October – the month of fight against breast cancer

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, celebrated worldwide since 1985. But Dear Ladies, do not wait for the disease, get examined regularly!

Breast cancer is the most common malignant cancer which affects women. The incidence of breast cancer increases with age. Among women before the age of 45, the cancer is rare and the majority of cases occur in women over 50 (in Poland 80% of patients). However, cancer also occurs in young patients and is often caused by a number of factors. These include the presence of a BRCA1 or BRCA2 gene mutation, family history, hormonal and environmental factors, and it also appears as a syndrome of abandonment or loss.
