China: Report From The 6th Meeting Of The World Federation Of Ozone Therapy (Wfot) – Dr. Sz. Comber
During the VI Meeting of the World Federation of Ozone Therapy (WFOT) in China, I had the opportunity to observe how the Interventional Ozone Therapy Unit at Nanfang Hospital works, headed by Professor He Xiaofeng, president of WFOT in 2016-2018.
I participated, among others, in the presentation of the dosing of the oxygen-ozone mixture, which has also been used in Poland since last year.
Our fellow ozone therapists from China also showed us the use of ozone in gynecology.
In recent years, a growing problem in China is the treatment of infertility of various causes, including pelvic inflammatory diseases of bacterial and viral etiology, as well as obstruction of the fallopian tubes due to post-inflammatory adhesions.
In such cases, it may be useful to clear the fallopian tubes with the use of an oxygen-ozone mixture, which anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effect. As Dr. Chao He showed during his lecture, such treatment has a much lower rate of recurrence of obstruction compared to classic treatment (5% vs 17%), and more importantly, the ratio is still significantly better in the group treated with ozone (79% vs 60%) .
Another interesting use of ozone during lecture sessions was shared by the Portuguese orthopedist Dr. Jose Gonsalves. He presented a paper assessing the effectiveness of ozone administration to the shoulder joint in 114 cases of shoulder pain syndromes. As many as 89% of patients assessed the results of pain relief as good or very good, in the remaining 11% as sufficient; there were no patients who did not have a beneficial effect of the applied therapy.
One of the more exotic indications for ozone was the treatment of precipitation abscesses in the case of multi-drug resistant tuberculosis (MDR TBC). The work presented by the Ozone Forum of India included a rich photographic illustration as well as evidence of improved treatment efficacy with the combined use of antibiotics and ozone.
These and other examples presented illustrate how widely ozone therapy is used in the world and the fact that doctors of every specialization can find an application for this unusual gas.
